FREE Registration for a Team In Training event -...
Just in time for New Year’s resolutions - save $100 on the registration fee for Team In Training, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s endurance sports fundraising program.  I can’t say enough great things about TNT. I’ve been an alumni for three years now, and plan on participating again in 2012. Not only do you learn how to complete an endurance event - in my case, a...

Merry Christmas!
I am up at an insane hour of the morning with late-night leg cramps. I’m sure it’s just a combination of hydration and strengthening (oh, adductors, you slay me), but for now it’s an annoyance.  In any case, yesterday I finished another 6 mile run with my informal TNT alumni group, which gave me time to think. Though it was with my favorite folks to run with, which always puts...

Thank you anonymous fitblr gifter!
I just figured out that I never posted a thank you to the fitblr who sent me this lovely dolife shirt size medium. This will not do. What they didn’t realize is that they also sent me a new NSV - to my tremendous surprise, the shirt is too big. I think I need a small. I’ve never needed a small shirt in my life. And because they were extra sneaky, the order came from Do Life - I...

A post I sincerely don't want to make: 52 & 52 in...
I agree with other commentors - disappointing, certainly, but I would not call this “embarrassing,” any more than you’d call not running a race due to an injury embarrassing. You all had a health decision (financial health, but good financial health sure makes it a LOT easier to eat well and be active) to make and you made it. Far better to make the call now than to be in a very...

navadoeslife asked: Ahem "Where HAVE you been?" <--pretend I sound like Mrs. Weasley in Harry Potter for that line (as that's how I imagine it). Butttt, you haven't been on my dash OR on dailymile recently Ms. Erin! And I miss finding out about your newest adventures in swimming. Hope that the stress of work isn't getting to you too badly and that you'll quickly reappear on my dash...

Donut Run...
petegetshealthy replied to your post: Oh no they didn’t There is part of me thinking this is awesome and then there is this part that feels I should be ashamed of it, that it’s not right. I think I will have the bad side beat up my good side so I can love it! I KNOW. I agree entirely. Even with the run, though, I can’t afford four donuts with all the other holiday treats. Good thing...

Sometimes being vegan has less obvious but notable...
Like being able to walk right on past the chocolate birthday cake in the break room.  I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of flourless cake/torte type thing.  Thank god it’s full of eggs and dairy. Moving along…

Oh no they didn't
Doughnut Day 25k This Saturday. Fun run visiting four donut bakeries in Minneapolis, including one that serves vegan donuts.  I can’t decide if this is brilliant or diabolical. Also, I imagine the sidewalks will be icy. Maybe a good excuse to take an old pair of running shoes and put screws in them…? Have any of you done this before?

2075 yards
About 60 minutes. Done.  My in-laws showed me how to improve my form, and my efficiency benefited greatly. Seriously - like four strokes from one end of the pool to the other (it’s a short pool.) And I only had to get water once - no cramping. For me, this is exceptional swimming! I’m thrilled with my progress. Very exciting!! I expect swimming in a bigger pool will be a lot more...

Swimming!
Going swimming. Gonna try for 2000 yards per this plan workout 1. Added more pennies to my stash to count the laps (3 lengths/pennies = 25 yards. Yes, this pool is not meant for lap swimming. But it’s free and the hours are good and it’s largely empty most of the time.) If you see me on Tumblr again tonight, tell me to stop blogging and get my swim done already.

Weigh In
Well, I am very happy to report a minor loss a week after Thanksgiving, and my new adult all-time low weight (which is almost at the tippy-toe end of a normal weight on the BMI scale.) 0.2 pounds away from GW1.  Current BMI: 24.18. Change from SW: -44.8 lbs Change from HW: -49.3 lbs  I’ve been fluctuating here basically since October. I’m officially somewhere between a medium and a...

NSV: Treadmill edition
Well, I went for a neighborhood run, trying to beat dusk. Dusk won. I got in three miles though, and given the treacherous terrain (icy sidewalks and poorly-lit berms covered in leaves, then snow), I’m pretty happy that I didn’t fall. Those last 0.4 miles I just did a loop on my block, up and down my street and across the street. 3 miles total.  Then I decided to do my last scheduled...
