True story
My dog, Mingus, has begun associating hearing my Garmin turn on with his semi-daily run. Pretty much the “OH you’re holding my leash!!” reaction.
Less awesome when I just want to upload my history to DailyMile and he’s dancing all around me, but pretty cute nonetheless.

Good luck!
Thank you. Winter training is an entirely different beast - I’ll need all the luck I can get!

Yikes that reminds me to cut my toe-nails!!
You know, the funny thing is that I DID cut my toenails. Obviously not enough though....

Careful to change direction once in a while or you’ll break a knee* (I speak from experience) *Break is my non medical term for “Hurts Like Crap For Months”. But not ACTUALLY broken.
Ooooh, good point. I’m not used to that many laps but that makes a lot of sense. Thanks, Chrysti!

strengthforsuze replied to your post: Incentive to go faster on the treadmill:
I like pyramid workouts like sprint 30 seconds, walk 30 seconds, then go up to 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute, 4 minute, then back down again. Or just mess with incline and speed like fartlek training.
Excellent suggestion. I used to do this but need to get back into it - definitely makes things go faster. Thanks, Suze!

We’re going to give vegetarianism a try for a while. This is just an effort to put some variety into what we cook as well as get more vegetables. This does not mean I am becoming a vegetarian! I am still a devoted meatetarian, so don’t get it twisted… ;-)
If anyone has any recommendations for vegetarian recipe sites / blogs, please let me know. Thanks!

Whoo! Look who is officially back on my dash!
Yep, it’s good to be back! Thanks, Nava, for keeping me on track when I wandered away from Tumblr over the holidays, lured by the siren song of cookies. And huge thanks to Kal for keeping me accountable, too!

Marathon training has officially begun
I present to you my first bloody marathon training sock of 2012!
(Don’t worry; it’s just a toenail issue.)
Ran outside while it was still 40*. It was not a great run, but a lot better than the treadmill. It’s frustrating to not be able to go as fast as I’d like, owing to ice, but 1) I was able to run in the sun; 2) Slowing down to get back into training is a very good...

WIW
I’m still up, but less than two pounds from my last official weigh-in on December 2 (which was also my lowest adult weight.) This is about seven pounds less than I weighed on Friday, so obviously a lot of it was water weight. Considering the holiday carnage, I’ll take it.
(I know a seven-pound loss in such a short amount of time sounds like a lot and unhealthy, but I am eating my...

amandastartsover:
I am trying to do some meal planning for the next few weeks, and am trying to find meals that I can make, but leave out meat or dairy for my part of it, so I can avoid making two dinners each night. Its getting kind of frustrating, to be honest. Anyone have any ideas other than pasta, stir frys and soup?
Sorry - apparently I couldn’t leave a link in your ask. I am all...

Incentive to go faster on the treadmill:
GET ME OFF THIS DAMNED THING.
Ugh. “Dreadmill,” indeed. I always feel like a hamster on those things. Need some good TM workouts to break up the monotony… any suggestions?
3 marathon training miles down. Only 300ish to go. It’s supposed to get warmer tomorrow - hoping to do my five outside!

Just found out it’s a cool 14 laps around our community indoor walking track for a mile.
!!!
Whoa. I have a feeling I’ll be putting in quite a few laps. Lots of good psychological strength cross-training there!

Oh and btw… today’s inspiration came from my husband, who’s training for his first ever half marathon.
He’s petrified he can’t do it, but today he busted out two miles on the treadmill. On the treadmill! I can’t imagine training for my first half marathon on a treadmill.
Hell yeah, honey. That’s the way it’s done - one day at a time.

Hey look! It’s time for the inevitable “back on track” post!
I seemed to have gained four pounds between today and yesterday. Always exciting. That puts me about seven pounds total gained over the holidays. I think a good week or two of solid eating and hydrating will probably bring it down to where it should be.
Day 1 of marathon training is complete, treadmill no less. 4...
