Meet my new bff, Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk.

I’m pretty picky about non-dairy milks. First, they can’t be astronomically expensive. Also, flavor and consistency are very important. Rice milk is too sweet; Silk soymilk, to me, is like drinking a milkshake - WAY too rich, thick and sweet. Coconut milk is good, but there’s no calorie bonus like there is with almond milk.

I was really chagrined when I couldn’t find an unsweetened, plain version of this almond milk on the shelf, so I decided to give this guy a chance.

So glad I did.

40 calories per cup.

A real vanilla flavor that isn’t sweet or cloying (though you still wouldn’t want to use it in any savory preparation that vanilla would not taste good in.) But it’s not too sweet for, say, my morning steel cut oatmeal (really, really good.) Even my non-dairy-drink-skeptic husband likes the stuff.

And wait until you try it in hot cocoa. I want to try it in chai tea as well.

Did I mention 40 calories a cup?

Seriously, easily the tastiest nondairy milk on the market.
